Big White

Got home last night from a great weekend at Big White. The conditions were fantastic and the sun even came out on both days. As Doug said "Big White definitely lived up to it's name". Check out the rest of my Big White photos here.
We left Vancouver on Friday night around 6pm and got to the condo around 11pm. Got up early Saturday morning and headed out. The sun came out just as we headed back to the condo for lunch where we scarfed down some soup and headed back out. We managed to catch the last ride up a few chairs and staggered back to the condo at 4pm. A quick dip in the hot tub and a few drinks later and everyone was exhausted and starving and devoured the lasagna Catherine made along with some garlic bread and caesar salad. We were in bed by 9:30.
Up again early on Sunday and out on the hill. I came in early, around 2:30 and promptly fell asleep. We went out for a Chinese buffet and were able to stay up till 11:30. Everyone slept in on Monday and we left the mountain at about 11am.
We found out in Kelowna that the Coquihalla, Crowsnest and Hwy 1 were all closed. We decided to make a run for Merritt and when we arrived Hwy 1 had opened. We headed to Spences Bridge and then down the canyon. The road was bare and the skies were clear from Kelowna to just around Lytton where the clouds and fog rolled in. It poured all the way to Hope then cleared up again in Chilliwack. As far as I know the Coquihalla was still closed this morning. It closed Sunday night at 11pm and the storm up there was still getting worse as we drove home. So glad we didn't get stuck! And how could we in the beast we were driving! 4-door 4x4 monster truck - I'd never want to own one ($140 in diesel to get to Kelowna and back), but it sure was cool to drive and ride in!
